Ride the Appi Gondola to the summit of Mt. Maemori. From the top, enjoy sweeping views of the beech secondary forest below, as well as Mt. Iwate, Hachimantai, Mt. Nanashigure, Mt. Himekami, and more.
On some days, you may even witness a magical sea of clouds.

Iwate Prefecture’s first full-scale outdoor pickleball courts are now open at Appi Kogen!
Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, and is one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide.
Enjoy a fun game with family and friends.

Observe Heike and Genji fireflies that inhabit the Appi Kogen area and enjoy their enchanting dance of lights.
Thanks to Appi’s cool climate, fireflies can be seen later in the season compared to other regions.
