From June to July, the beech forests and their surroundings come alive with diverse flora and fauna. Visitors can encounter the Ezoharuzemi cicada, the mysterious ghost plant, and vibrant meadow blooms such as the Japanese azalea and lily of the valley.

During the limited period from late May to early June, the melting snow on Kagaminuma Pond at the summit of Hachimantai resembles a dragon's eye, earning it the name "Hachimantai Dragon Eye."
