Find out what’s around the forest, grasslands, and ponds, and watch them.

Itinerary

09:30 Meet up, self-introductions, and explanation of the insect exploration activity. Create a bingo card by imagining what kind of insects there are in Appi Kogen.

09:50 Let’s go out and look for insects! The guide will tell you a lot of things. (Take a car to the Beech station.)

Returning to the hotel at 11:40, looking back at the insects of your bingo card and matching the answers

12:00 Dismissal

Pricing

Junior high school students and older: 3,500 yen / With foreign language interpreter (English/Chinese): 4,500 yen
Elementary school students: 3,000 yen / With foreign language interpreter (English/Chinese): 4,000 yen
*Preschool children aged 4 and older are free of charge when accompanied by a paying guardian.

Capacity

2 to 9 participants
※ If there is only one person who applies, the event will be at the rate of two people.

Target Audience

Participants must be age 4 or older.
*Children must be in at least the 3rd grade of elementary school to join without a guardian.

How to Participate

Please apply for a web reservation by 5:00 PM 2 days prior to the date.

Equipment & Items

Clothing: To ensure comfort and safety, please wear long sleeves, long pants, a hat, and comfortable walking shoes such as sneakers. Sandals are not allowed.
Items to bring: Be sure to bring drinks and insect repellent spray. If you have them, a bug net and insect cage are also recommended.

Remarks

This program is not intended for insect collection. The captured insects are returned on the spot after observing them.
In the event of rain, the activity will be canceled.
In that case, our staff will contact each guest with a reservation directly.

Appi Kogen is home to lush forests that continue to nurture clean, fresh water.
The Appi Kogen area harbors three species of fireflies—Hime fireflies, Heike fireflies, and Genji fireflies.
From early July to mid-August, you can witness their enchanting dance of light.

APPI 1304 Gondola Cruise

The gondola ride takes about 15 minutes. From the gondola summit station, follow the promenade to the summit of Mt.Maemori, which is 1,304m above sea level.
From the summit you can enjoy a magnificent spring panorama of the secondary beech forest below, as well as Mt. Iwate, Mt. Hachimantai, Mt. Nanashigure, and Mt. Himekami.
And sometimes you can see a fantastic sea of clouds.
