Surrounded by wide expanses of Hachimantai National Park and connected to the Mt. Maemori and Mt. Nishimori range of mountains, the main idea behind APPI is to be "In harmony with people and nature". Standing in this wide highland area, the lemon yellow coloured APPI Grand Hotel blends in with the changing colours of all four seasons and is the landmark of APPI Resort. APPI actually consists of 2 small plateaus; the flat "Naka no makiba" and the slightly more hilly "Oku no makiba", and the surrounding reforested beech woods. These beech woods are rated in the top 100 forests of Japan and are visited by many people each year who enjoy the opportunity to take a casual stroll through the carefully maintained paths, pick mushrooms and other wild plants and bathe in the lush greenery that the woods provide. With the surrounding environment in mind when developing the resort, it is now possible to see wild grasses and colourful flowers all over the grounds, as well as fireflies and even the rare Tohoku salamander in the clear waters of the mountain lakes and streams. Sports at the Resort
At the 36 hole APPI Kogen Golf Club; site of the JLPGA championships 7 times, and with one of the largest facilities in Japan (19 courts) the APPI Tennis Club, you can enjoy these sports to the fullest.

The resort boasts its own farm from which some of the ingredients for the many meals come from. An abundance of safe, delicious and nutritious food and dairy products produced locally in Iwate are also used in our cooking.
